Alex interviewing artist James Hensman.

Social media help for
local businesses.

Understand your audience, choose the right channels and share useful posts, videos and interviews in your own voice.

A conversation with artist James Hensman · Ladysmith, BC

Your work.
Your story. Your people.

A finished project. The person behind the counter. An answer to a customer’s question. You already have things worth sharing.

You don’t have to post every day. A clear, consistent presence helps people get to know your business and gives them a reason to stay in touch.

From your business to useful content.

A clear process, from understanding your audience to improving what works.

Step 1

Listen and learn

Start with your business.

A short questionnaire helps me understand your customers, their questions and the services that answer them. For an established business, we build on what you already know.

Step 2

Choose your plan

Choose the right direction.

We choose the channels, visual style and content plan that fit your audience and goals — whether that means Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or YouTube.

Step 3

Create and share

Make content worth sharing.

I develop posts, articles and videos around real questions and seasonal topics. AI can help with research and drafts; I shape the final work to sound like your business.

Step 4

Analyze and improve

Work with the results.

We look at how the content performs, what people respond to and which questions come up. Then we refine the topics, formats and schedule for the next round.

Local businesses. Real stories.

Three examples, from client stories to my own Facebook content.

An interview with James Hensman.

James Hensman · Artist

Meet the person behind the paintings.

We recorded an interview about James’s path into art and what he hopes to express through his paintings.

I shared his story and website launch in community groups, introducing his work through conversation without paid advertising.

JNG Plumbing · Local service business

Useful answers to seasonal plumbing questions.

For JNG Plumbing, I researched the plumbing questions people ask at different times of year and used them to plan practical posts and videos.

I also set up its Facebook page and Google Business Profile, giving customers clearer ways to discover the business and get in touch.

I can film a conversation at your workplace or another suitable location, using my camera and microphones. We talk about your story, your work and the questions customers might ask.

The full interview can be shared on YouTube. Short excerpts can also become social posts when that fits your content plan.

Google Business Profile

Help local customers
find you on Google.

Your social pages tell your story. Your Google Business Profile helps people find your services, contact details and website in Search and Maps.

I can help you set up a profile or improve an existing one, as I’ve done for James Hensman and JNG Plumbing.

Paid promotion

Local ads with a clear purpose.

I plan and set up Facebook ads for small businesses on Vancouver Island. We define the goal, choose the local audience, shape the message and visuals, and check the campaign before it goes live. Instagram and Google can be considered when they fit your business.

A focused Facebook test can often start with about CA$50 in ad spend, paid to Meta. That is the advertising budget only: my work on planning, creative, setup and review is quoted separately. We look at the results before deciding whether to adjust the campaign or spend more.

  • Google

What will it cost?

Page setup, content planning and campaign support involve different work. Tell me what you need, and I’ll provide a quote before we start.

Professional photography is available through an independent Ladysmith photographer and paid separately. Articles and promotions are agreed as separate work.

Tell me what you need
Can you help with just one thing?

Yes. We can start with a specific task, such as setting up your Facebook page, improving your Google Business Profile or planning your posts.

What if I’m new to social media?

We’ll start with what you need and work through it in plain English. You don’t need to know the technical terms.

Do I need photos and videos ready?

We’ll look at the materials you already have and decide what else would help. Any new content work will be agreed as part of your quote.

How do we plan advertising costs?

We’ll discuss the advertising budget alongside the setup and support you need, so the costs are clear before a campaign starts.
